Straight or curved row of short individual burrows of equal length, arranged alternating to right and left, tending upward, resulting in a zigzag featherstitch pattern, comparable to sympodial ramification of plants. [Feeding burrow (SEILACHER & HEMLEBEN, 1966, p. 49).]
