Description

Globular to ovoid, hollow calcite bodies, long diameter as much as 0.45 mm., short diameters 0.40 mm.; shell composed of radially oriented calcite fibers, ranging from 10 to 150 microns in thickness. [Originally regarded as foraminifer; by others believed to be related to Charophyta or of uncertain affinities; name possibly applied to two different kinds of organisms (see Treatise, p. C322; TEICHERT, 1965, p. 103; POYARKOV, 1966; VEEVERS, 1970, p. 180; PECK, 1974)] [Description prepared by CURT TEICHERT.]
